Learn how to use all of Cocono's features
Getting Started
After installing Cocono, you can create a new ledger or import an existing Beancount file. The app supports importing .beancount files and folders from iCloud Drive, Files, and other locations.

Create or Import a Ledger
On first launch, choose to create a brand new ledger or import existing Beancount files. Both single-file and multi-file (with include directives) ledger structures are supported.

Set Up Accounts
Add your asset, liability, income, and expense accounts in the account manager. Custom icons and multiple currencies are supported.

Start Bookkeeping
Use manual entry, screenshot recognition, or voice input to add transactions. AI will automatically match accounts and amounts.
Input Methods
Manual Entry
Fill in date, description, accounts, and amounts in the transaction form. Both simple mode and professional double-entry mode are available.
Screenshot Bookkeeping
Capture or import payment screenshots. AI automatically recognizes and generates transaction entries. Text recognition happens locally — only the recognized text is sent to AI for parsing.
Voice Bookkeeping
Tap the voice button and describe your transaction, like "Spent $35 on lunch." Speech recognition happens locally, and AI converts the text into a standard Beancount transaction.
Text Editor
Built-in syntax-highlighted Beancount editor with auto-completion for writing raw directives directly.
AI Features
AI Query Assistant
Ask questions about your finances in natural language. AI automatically generates BQL (Beancount Query Language) queries, executes them, and summarizes results in plain language.
AI Settings
Choose between local and cloud modes. Local mode uses on-device models with no internet required. Cloud mode can use Cocono's service or your own API key.
Reports & Analytics
Balance Sheet
View balance overview of all accounts including assets, liabilities, and net worth. Supports sunburst and treemap visualizations.
Income & Expense
View income and expense distribution by time period, with cost basis and market value options. Includes trend charts and category breakdowns.
Budget Management
Set monthly budgets for expense accounts and track spending progress in real time.
Journal
View a timeline of all transactions with filtering and search by account, tag, and more.
Siri & Shortcuts
Automate bookkeeping with iOS Shortcuts. For example, create a shortcut that automatically analyzes and records transactions when you receive a bank notification.
